Curling Ribbon Bow

I LOVE wrapping presents.  I LOVE making each one special and unique.  And I LOVE seeing the recipient’s face when they see their wrapped gift.  One of the easiest ribbons to make is a curling ribbon bow.  You get a lot of bang for your buck with this one, as you can make it as  big as you’d like in four easy steps.

Step 1. Cut a strand of ribbon long enough to tie a bow around your box (hint: cut the ribbon extra long, so you will have extra ribbon left over to curl). Pull out several strands of curling ribbon from their spools (you can use one color, or as many different colors as you wish) equally as long.  Put all the strands of ribbons together and work with them as if they are a single strand. Beginning on the front side of the box, lay the ribbon over the box and turn your box over.

Step 2. Bring the ribbons over to the other side of the box. When the ribbons meet in the middle give them a twist, then go around to the front (or top) of the box again.

Step 3. Tie a tight double knot with the ribbon strands on the front side of the package.  After you’ve tied your knot, you should have several long strands of ribbon left over.

Step 4. Use the edge of your scissors to curl each individual strand of ribbon.  This will create a “bow” like the one in the picture.

Use your imagination and use different colors of ribbon or make the lengths of ribbon different to give it a cascading look.  There’s really no end to what beautiful bows you can make.
